iQ Academy specialises in the field of business studies and offers a variety of career-enhancing courses. Our programmes are designed with working professionals in mind which means you can easily balance work, life and studies. The various types of distance learning courses we offer are:
- Business Short Courses for skills development (Non-credit bearing)
- NQF Level 5 Higher Certificates
- Free DO Life courses
Only Higher Certificate Programmes are accredited.
A Higher Certificate is a formal qualification and is registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and accredited by the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC) and Council on Higher Education (CHE)
A Short Course is a short learning programme that focuses on equipping you with a specific skill set. Our curricula are developed by industry experts and are internally quality-assured by our Academic Board. Our short courses are institutional learning programmes and are non-credit-bearing, which means they do not carry credits towards a registered qualification in terms of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
You do not need to physically attend a class for online learning programmes.
Your study material is available on our Virtual Campus student portal. You would therefore need a stable Internet connection, smartphone, PC, laptop, or tablet to access your study material. You can also download your study material for offline use. Assessments are completed online (no emailing of assignments needed), and results are available on the Virtual Campus.

Admissions
Higher Certificates:
Our Higher Certificates have 2 intake periods per academic year, Semester 1 and Semester 2. To secure your spot, in either semester, all you need to do is successfully complete the application process and register by the deadline. Semester dates are available on our website for every Higher Certificate we offer. Choose the programme you love and enrol for the available dates to get started!
Short Courses:
Our Short Courses are open for enrolment all-year round. All you need to do to enrol is find a course you love, complete the contact form, and await a call from one of our knowledgeable Enrolment Consultants, who can assist you every step of the way. Some of the Short Courses are also open for self-enrolment, should you want to register yourself fully online. Choose the course that suits you, and enrol today!
- STEP 1: APPLY ONLINE
Complete the website contact form to request a free call-back from an Enrolment Consultant. Discuss any questions you have or complete your application over the phone immediately if you’re ready.
- STEP 2: REGISTER FOR THE COURSE OR SEMESTER
Secure a spot in any course or semester by successfully completing the application process and registering by the deadline. Registration includes submission of required documents and payment of the course fee/s.
- STEP 3: START YOUR COURSE
Now you will have access to the Virtual Campus, our online student portal, where all teaching and learning will take place. You are now ready to complete your onboarding, engage with your course content, test yourself with assessments, and gain job-ready skills for the next chapter of your life.

Qualifications

An iQ Academy Higher Certificate Programme is an industry-ready qualification that is offered through the convenience of online distance learning. All Higher Certificate courses are on NQF level 5 and are registered with the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) and accredited by the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC) and Council on Higher Education (CHE).
Our qualifications are lecture-supported. The mode of delivery for our qualifications is distance learning, and all intruction takes place via the Virtual Campus, our online student platform. Your lecturer will provide a live class timetable for you to use to plan your studies.
Students are encouraged to attend the live classes and engage with the content as it becomes available, to stay on track to complete in their desired timeframe. The content covered in class will be in line with the module outcomes, and students will be invited to complete question and answer surveys prior to each class.
Between classes you can engage with your lecturer directly should you need additional assistance.

Short courses

Short courses are typically non-credit-bearing programmes, affording students the opportunity to build their professional credentials without the higher cost and time associated with studying for a university degree or qualification.
There are no written examinations for short courses. As part of your learning, you are encouraged to complete short quizzes throughout each unit, which help you build and test your knowledge. You must complete and submit one formative assessment at the end of each unit. To meet the requirements for a course, you will have to pass the final summative assessment at the end of the course, before you can get certified.
Once you have completed your course, you will get an iQ Academy Short Course Certificate. Your certificate demonstrates that you have acquired industry-relevant skills which can enhance your promotional and employment opportunities. In order to qualify for a certificate you will need to:
- Pass all your assignments
- Pay up your student account
